Pedersoli Stock Question

I picked up a Pedersoli Mississippi Rifle. I'm debating on whether or not to try and exchange it for another. I'm not all that impressed with the stock as there is 2mm and in some cases almost 3mm more wood on one side of the barrel than on the other side. While that doesn't seem like a huge difference, it is visibly noticeable. For as expensive as these things are I would have expected it to be finished cleaner than this.

I understand they leave a more wood on their stocks than original guns, but seems like they could at least keep it symmetrical.

Is this typical of everyone else's experience with pedersoli muskets, rifle muskets, etc? If I exchange it for another am I likely to get the same issue?
