In a post on one of the threads below you mention a source for bore gauges. Would you please expand on the source for them as I have been looking for some.

I bought mine from Travers Tool. I purchased the "minus" version of the Class ZZ gauges, which are .0005" undersized. This allows you to insert a .577 minus gauge into a .577 musket barrel. Prices start at about 3 bucks.

Actually, minus sizes are not necessarily under size. The actual specification is:
Class ZZ Plus tolerance: -.0000"/+.0002"
Class ZZ Minus tolerance: -.0002"/+.0000"

Yep I picked up several sets for 577. Up and down 680 up and down along with stuff for 50 and 54 cal.

They are also great for other weapons like. 1903, M1 garand, trapdoor springfields.

Most all will fit in a 20 ga shotgun slip cover box. Add a cotton ball with little oil in the hole and oil cloth on top.

I think you're looking at two different classes of gauges. They sell Class ZZ Plus gauges that can be up to .0002" over but not under. Then there are Class ZZ Minus gauges that can be .0002" under but not over.

A minus .577 gauge will be no larger than .5765" and no smaller than .5763" and still be in tolerance.
