I have just purchased an original 63 Springfield. Should be here this week.
Can't wait!
I asked the seller to send me the serial number for an SRS check.
He said they dont have serial numbers.
When did they start?
I didn't know they weren't numbered.
Thanks for some your input.

Not til the early Trapdoors did the government do it as I remember. Contacts from the government to suppliers like Colt pistols, Maynard carbines were numbered throughout the war. But not anyones muskets / rifles or Enfields.

I thought he was incorrect.
Kinda hard to SRS then, Lol!
Thank you!
Merry Christmas!
Its gonna be when I get my NEW (OLD)
63!

New question??
Is it true if the U.S. is stamped onto of the buttplate it verifies shipped to Army Ordnance?
My pistols all have the Ordnance stamps, did not know this was true for rifles.
Thanks again for your input!
