I have a new repro 1st Model Maynard buttstock for sale complete with a new buttplate fitted. The buttplate is 8620 steel and can be color case hardened or just antiqued whichever you desire. The inletting is very close for the tangs and fitting it should be easy. The lettering on the patchbox cover is spot on for an original. It has a proper working spring to keep the cover closed. There is a very small dimple filled with epoxy on the patchbox side that probably will not show when finished. The buttplate is fitted and screwed in place. There is some epoxy bedding under the buttplate. Those things are a bear to fit. I can see why the Mass Arms superintendent hated that buttplate. The price is $350 with shipping extra. It will make fine upgrade for a well worn Maynard.
