Purchased a fine 1861-dated Enfield artillery musketoon at this weekend's Franklin CW show. The little iron thingee that fits in the front trigger guard tang and has a hole to which is attached the split ring at the end of the cone protector chain is missing. I've checked with S&S, Lodgewood, and Peter Dyson. Anyone have one or a source for one? Thanks.

Sling swivel and screw*

Naw. The rear sling swivel on an artillery musketoon is attached to the belly of the buttstock. So the artillery carbine's chain and cone protector is attached to a small screw-in iron piece with a hole the cone protector chain's split ring attached to. That's what I need. I know I'm not using the correct terms and am not very clear, alas.

You've corrected me enough times that I finally guessed right!

Tim Prince called them studs in his description. I'm aware from the British Soldier's Firearm, but perhaps something would be in there.

Yes, that's it. Did find one on Peter Dyson's site. Postage from England exceeds the purchase price, alas. Thanks for the interest.
