Maynard load

The load for a Maynard I use is: 21.6 grain fff powder. I then place a 50 cal lubed wad between the bullet and powder. Has anyone ever used any load like that ?? If so, how did it work for you ?? I am open for suggestions, or ideas.

I'm not too crazy about lube in contact with the powder charge. I figure that the moisture in the lube could leech into the powder and affect ignition. If you think the grease cookie is helping control the fowling, how about a paper wad on top of the powder?
I make my own lube and find that it has a very long shelf life in loaded rounds.

I shoot 23 grains of 1 1/2 Swiss with a modified 515141 bullet that weighs 370 grains. I place a .030 thick card wad between the powder and bullet. I shoot an entire match and clean at the end. The bore is clean with 3 patches. If you feel you need a lube wad it should be separated from the powder with a card wad. The wad can stick to the bullet also and cause erratic accuracy. You should place a thin wad between the bullet and lube wad to prevent this. Now your getting too complicated for me. Keep it simple.

Simple is 21g 3x goex, Lyman luber sizer with 5050 tamarac n crisco, just wipe the base & load in reduced brass. Won 4 nationals with a mod 2 all orig Maynard. Gun & load Easily outshoots me.

I have been in communication with another skirmisher who has trouble keeping a smaller bullet in the case. I put together a video just showing how I do it but for the life of me, I am having trouble loading the video to the world. If I ever get it up and running, I hope that it helps. I shoot a Lyman 515139 sized down to 511 with 50 50 beeswax/cisco with tad of olive oil, 25 grains of 3ff. The carbine is original and I am discovering the joys of shooting a Maynard.
