James River firearms (no longer in business) made nice firearms. They made shooter models using Bobby Hoyt's barrels.

There is a nice, barely used Pedersoli 2-Band Enfield, for sale, on here. Pedersoli firearms are great shooters.

Just for information purposes. James River Firearms had Hoyt cut the rifling in barrels that James River purchased smoothbored. So it is technically not a Hoyt Barrel, they are Hoyt cut barrels and are hard steel.

James River generally used barrel blanks that Hoyt cut for them. But, near the end of the operations, when the blanks became nearly impossible to get, JRA did supply a number of finished arms with barrels made completely by Hoyt.

I've got a JRA Richmond Carbine with a Hoyt Barrel. It is stamped HOYT on the belly of the barrel. I don't know if it was fully made or only rifled by Hoyt. But, it is probably the most accurate black powder weapon I own. I shoot an RCBS Hodgdon .578 sized to .576 with 44 grains 3F Goex.

This is 10 shots off a bench at 50 yards (using Shuetzen powder, which I don't use anymore - too dirty).

I would like to offer an 1855 two band rifle with many original parts including original Maynard lock and unfired Hoyt relined barrel with SAC card and generous return policy. $900 shipped. The rifle is not real pretty but is respectable and shows character with accuracy potential. I guarantee that the rifle will fire.

I have one from when he was still a suttler. I think it is a Fayetteville but will need to cheak.

I bought one from him and he was going to rebarrel it as a .580 but somehow it never happened so three nationals later I just agreed to take one off the rack since I had paid for it.

It has been in my Gun Safe ever since.

Let me know if you are interested...

Yep, I found it in the safe and it was not a Fayetteville, which was what I ordered since I was born at Fort Bragg.

It still has the original tag with price from sitting on the wall down at the Suttlers, so it has not been set up.

I will take $850 for it.

NOTE: this is not a light rifle it is about as heavy as the 1855 I currently shoot.
