1861 Springfield 3 band

I have a customized 1861 Springfield build from an ARMI SPORT donor gun.

The stock is trimmed to Original size as well as the barrel, so this gun has the feel and weight of a Factory Springfield. The wood has tiger stripes, and is oil finished

The barrel has a Hoyt reline with a gain twist that finishes at 1:42. I had this done special in 7 grooves. The progression makes for very good powder burn and a very stable bullet flight, does require a custom bullet described below.

Lock is optimized with a zero slack trigger.

Has peeps on one leaf, 50 and 100 set for center hold.

Shoots a custom compression bullet with Spitzer point sized to 576. The bullet weight is 550 grains, and likes 42 grains 2f Swiss, or 40 grains 3f Swiss, or 43 grains 3f GOEX. This bullet has 65% bearing length one grease groove one compression groove.

Mould is steel no handles, and is offered as part of the package

Barrel is glassed tang to nose cap relieved from back band to front band.

This is an X-ring gun and likes paper. I built this as a development project with Bobby Hoyt’s help. I have completed my testing and it’s time to get this to a younger guy who can shoot with the big boys. If you want an affordable match type musket custom built without the custom price, here you go.

The offered price includes the gun, mould and load data.

$950
