1816 question

Looking at getting an 1816 with cone in barrel conversion is it possible to reline these?

I considered relining mine. When I checked it out the only method I found was cutting off the front half of the barrel beneath the barrel band and replacing it with a liner that extended all the way down to the breach. I have no doubt that works, but didn't want to do that to mine.

I don't know if anyone is doing anything different now days, but there's not much metal to work with at the muzzle end of the barrel. I thought a better solution would be replacing the barrel, but eventually just reamed the corrosion out my original barrel. I've been using it for years.

I had my 1835/40 with a cone in barrel conversion relined by Bobby. No problem.

I have been contacted by another member who had a M-1816 cone-in-barrel alteration lined by Bobby Hoyt some 10 years ago, and has shot it ever since with no issues. The barrel was not cut in half to do it, either.

Heh, and here I was wondering about getting a rifled barrel for the Pedersoli 1816.
But how would the sights best be mounted? And would the the large size of the flash hole seriously affect long range accuracy as is so often the case with burned out nipples? Reckon I'm gonna find out.
