Is there a difference in thickness between the 73/84 Trapdoors and the 55/61/63/64 Springfields ? Simply an academic question in my study of the series.

Is there a difference in thickness between the 73/84 Trapdoors and the 55/61/63/64 Springfields ? Simply an academic question in my study of the series.

'73/'84 Trapdoor plates are much thinner than the earlier '55-'63 lockplates. Trapdoor locks sit flush with the stock, earlier locks sit proud of the stock perhaps 1/16".
