I picked up a damaged but otherwise good-looking 1859 (or 63, can't tell) 3-band forend with ALL the hardware. Had about a 10" x 1/4" chunk of wood missing, but after I removed the varnish, lightly wool rubbed to get everything off and then rubbed her down with bore butter, she looks just beautiful.
I had to pass on a great opportunity from Ed Knisely. He had a tang-repaired receiver and matching barrel, the lock plate with all but the hammer and the complete trigger plate for $750. I just had a Merrill barn find that came up for sale that I wanted more.
So, if anyone has any parts in good to fair condition for an 1859 Sharps long rifle, please keep me in mind. I have a great lever and the forend. To restore the forend I'd need the barrel and receiver to ensure proper fit. Thanks, Eric.
