Potsdam musket missing cleaning rod. Picked this up to restore by sending it to Hoyt for a reline and rifled but I never got around to doing it. The bore is rusty but I believe it could be fired as is. It will need a new nipple and these are available from Lodgewood. The lock is like a steel trap and works very well. No cracks that I have been able to see and I believe the finish is original.
I think this would make a perfect starter musket with some elbow grease and investment. With a relined barrel from Hoyt you would still be under the cost of a new 1842 Springfield and you would have a musket that possibly saw actual service during the war not a reproduction made in Italy.
