Was this because of the British influence of supply to the South?

The Parker Hale P1861 musketoon came out first in the early 1970s and the P1858 rifles and P1853 rifle-muskets soon followed. I bought my Parker Hale musketoon in 1974. N-SSA approval came quickly as they were at the time considered to be the best reproductions available. They are still highly regarded.
