Just received it by UPS today. I love 'em like this!! Note the notch in the buttplate for a patchbox.

Thank you for sharing the photo's of what appears to be an early Richmond Rifle Musket assembled from parts captured at Harper's Ferry. It would be a welcome addition to anyones collection!
Did any of it's history come with it?

No John, there's no verifiable history to it. I do think it may still have a load in it though. A rod stops right about where you would expect it to if it had powder and ball in the barrel.
Whether left in the rafters of a barn by a wounded rebel sharpshooter in 1863, or a boy hunting rabbits in 1893...dunno. :)

Compared to some Re-enactor's muskets I have seen on over the years it appears "Mint."
I assume that like all Richmonds, the barrel was "Browned" at the factory.
Let me know what kinds of groups you can shoot with it.
