Smith carbine coil trigger spring origin and original rifling twist rate?

Hello:

Please excuse two questions in one thread.

Have searched here and texted to learn who devised the Smith coil spring as a replacement for the "gull" version. Dave at Lodgewood and Bruce Cobb drew blanks on the originator and Dave thinks it is at least twenty years old.
So, who was the ingenious wizard, please? Maybe his name should be attached so he is not forgotten. He saved me a LOT of toil.

Have measured, as best I can, the twist in my original second version at 56".
Haven't found any info about the twist so far.
Would appreciate an authoritative answer, please.

Having worked with Bill at Lodgewood for many many years first image that comes to mind all the time when someone asks me a question about Civil War arms was that of Lodgewoods T-shirts that say Ask Bill.
So I did and Bill recalls it was a skirmisher named Bill Hood 30+ years ago who is no longer with us.

I remember that to be correct.
Ralph is his son, he now shoots on our team.
still does a little Smith work from time to time. He worked with his dad doing a lot of the Smith carbine repairs.
