I am looking into buying a original gallagher with low numbers and fine condition that i want to shoot. what price should i be looking at or are there lot numbers that are not as good as others. what should i look out for, what should i look for. I have always shot a smith but the gallagher just feels so good.

Antiqueguns.com just listed a Gallagher in very good condition with a starting bid of 1000. Hope this helps, Tim.

The last Gallager I saw online went for $1650 and that was just for the weapon. Brass is expensive and as far as I know there is not a plastic alternative like there is for the Maynard. I shot a Erma Werke repro with a resleeved slow twist barrel for years (thinking about selling her) but now have two Maynards that I shoot. Add about $300-$400 to the price of the Gallager for the brass, Rapine bullet mold and .54 cal cleaning gear. I agree that the Gallager has a little more weight than the Maynard but I've never had a problem with extracting a cartridge(number one complaint of soldiers using the Gallager) from my Maynards. I specially made a brass plate extractor for stuck spent rounds for my Gallager. Good shooting.
