Shooting a original 50.Smith Carbine got a good deal on some brass tubes problem tubes are to long gun will not close and lock can the tubes be filed/sanded a little to fit and if the gun flash hole and the tube holes need to be flush together when closed

Just take a file to the mouths of the cases
clean up with emery paper

Yes & Yes. The less space you have between the tube and flash hole the better. I used 220g emery paper and a 6X6 tile for a flat surface, go slow till you get one that fits. after that you can measure the rest.

I can face them to make they are all the same and square for a good fit if you like. One of the services I provide.

Seems like a practical fix. I like it.
