Savage revolver questions

Hey y'all,

I'm looking at purchasing a Savage revolver. The gun is in very good shape, with nice patina and crystal clear markings, but the one thing that concerns me is the play in the cylinder at full cock. Should there be any play at all? It won't rotate forward (clockwise when viewed from the operator end), but it will rotate backward about half a chamber-width. Is this normal for a Savage? If not, any guess on the faulty part, and are parts for a Savage commonly available?
