Been using the Lyman 429667 bullet for two years but I'm not that impressed with it. I bought 100 "Big Lube" Mav Dutchmen bullets to try. Anybody using these willing to share some load data? Not sure where to start with this bullet.

With every bullet/type I have tried with the Henry, I have found that they all will shoot as long as the lead is soft (less than 10 BHN). Load the bullets with Black Powder the same as you would normally - either to the base of the bullet with slight compression, or a reduced load with filler - no air space, COL no more than 1.592, Large Pistol primers. I use a reduced load of 23 grains 3F w/cream of rice filler with 240 grain Lyman cowboy action RNFP bullets in pure lead. I have not experienced improved performance with harder bullets.

I tried both the Lyman 429667 and the Mav Dutchman. The Mav Dutchman won hands-down. It was not only more accurate, it was a cleaner shooting bullet with that humongo grease groove and 3Fg Swiss powder. If you have Excel, send me your e-mail addres in a private post and I'll send you my spreadsheet with all the graphs.
