Does anyone have a source for a lorenz rear sight? Original or repro. No luck with Lodgewood.

Thanks!

I assume you are talking about a Muster 1854 rifle, although some folks call anything Austrian a "Lorenz."

Do you need a Type I (block sight), a Type II sight (long range), or a Jaeger sight?

Hi Don,

As you can tell, I am not an authority. It is the flip up type for an 1854.

Thanks,
Yancey

Yancy,

A word of caution. The channel in the barrel for the base of the Type II (flip-up) sight is cut longer than that for a Type I sight, and the Type II will not fit in a Type I barrel.

I bought a Type II reproduction sight last year from S&S. They listed it at the time in their paper catalogue, and on their web site. You might also try Terry Kirkpatrick at the spring national. He has had some in the past.

Don
