In Confederate Arms by Albaugh and Simmons. There is a picture of a Texas Tyler rifle with two leaf rear sight. I have not seen such a rear sight on any Tyler rifles. The picture is on page 61, plate 79. Have any of you firearm experts seen two leaf sight? The paragraph below the picture states this rifle has a 28 inch barrel. Thanks Richard

How does the sight compare to the rear sight featured on the 1865-dated No. 11 rifle pictured in Hill and Anthony (1978) Confederate Longarms and Pistols, on page 202, which appears to be a Model 1861/63 style rear sight.

I have that book also. But the picture of the sight in too small to tell what kind of sight it is. Its been a few years since I have visited Chickamauga Battlefield or the Greensboro museum. They have Tyler rifles there, but I do not remember if any had a two leaf sight. The rifle in the picture looks like Texas Rifle, Tyler, cal.57, with CS stamped behind the hammer. Larry Romano sent me a picture of his Tyler rifle, is does not have a rear sight at all. Was just looking for information. Thanks
