We have acquired a mortar from a past N-SSA shooter. I have agreed to help shoot the thing this spring. I would like to talk to someone and get a better idea of what is allowed in sighting the gun, and how to safely load the piece. Hauling a 24 pound ball over to the muzzle and dropping it down is difficult when trying to stay clear of the muzzle.

I also understand we need to have the team and gun inspected prior to shooting and I also believe the rules said we would have a safety assigned to the crew. Who do I need to contact about this to arrange these actions?

Anyone wanting to take pity on a new crew and giving us some advice and instructions would be appreciated. If you would e-mail me at tnmolds@gmail.com and let me know what your phone number is and a good time to talk, I will call.

We plan on shooting it Sunday morning and practicing. The last time we shot it we kept all of the shots within about 10 yards of the post. The crew is not new to the N-SSA just new to mortars. We need details on safety rules and procedures for loading so we don't violate any rules.
