I am confused on the availability of Lee six cavity commercial molds. I have seen posts that state that Lee will not produce custom six cavity molds unless you purchase in quantities of 100 or more.... it seems that this may not be the case. The following is copied directly from Lee's website: http://www.leeprecision.com/cgi/catalog/browse.cgi?1260830959.2010=/html/catalog/custom.html#CUSTOMMOLDS

Molds
We make custom bullet molds to your specifications. Maximum bullet mold dimensions for standard mold blocks; (all dimensions in inches) single cavity, .580 diameter, 1.250 length; double cavity, .685* diameter, .900 length; six cavity, .520 diameter, 1.000 length; *for single cavity mold in double cavity blocks, like our slug mold. For two cavities in the double cavity blocks, max. diameter is .600 inch. Click here for a mold design assistance sheet.

We need:

Payment ($150 set-up and tooling fee plus the cost of the mold )
Double cavity molds would be $26.00 each, six cavity would be $52.00 each.
Add $4.00 to your order for order processing fee

The above set-up and tooling fee will be waived on orders of 25 pieces or more. For orders over 100 pieces regular dealer/distributor prices apply to mold prices, in addition to elimination of the set-up and tooling fee.

This may not get you the dealer's pricing but you can get the molds. If 25 molds are ordered the set up fee is waved so you only have to pay $52.00 for each mold plus $4.00 shipping, not bad if you ask me.

Well then, if anybody wants to set up a group buy for the 6-cavity Maynard and Smith mould, you can count me in. Green

I've found my carbine to be very demanding when I try to feed it from the single mould I now use.

I would go in on another 6 cavity Smith/Maynard mold buy.

Scott, Count me in too, if you order such molds with more than 2 cavities. I have a 2-cavity mold right now. Unfortunately, the 2 cavities do not throw precisely the same weight bullet, 'tho the weight ranges do overlap.

Guys, I am sorry but I am not looking to put anything together as I already have a six cavity mold. I have had many offers to buy mine and I understood there were difficulties, so when I saw that there was an opportunity I just wanted to let everyone know.

OK, now I understand. I've heard that Bill at Lodgewood has said he doesn't have an interest in ordering the 100 necessary for the dealer deal, but if enough folks are interested in putting together a group buy and we wouldn't be stepping on Bill's toes, I would like to see whether a "retail group buy" could be gotten together. I'll be at our (1st Valley Rangers, Area 4) site for the Snowball if all goes well or could be reached by PM.

Getting a group order together of 25 molds is only to avoid the setup fee of $150.00. Without the setup fee the molds are only $52.00 plus $4.00 shipping. If you order less than 25 molds you just split the setup fee. These molds sold for over $100.00 retail so you are still doing well even if you have to pay setup fees on 4 or more molds.
