Good day all,
I picked up one of these recently. While it has the saddle ring on the side, it does not have the sling swivel in the lower butt stock. Also, instead of having the block rear sight, it has a folding leaf rear sight, not like the federal ladder sight for their sharps, but a mini version like the m1855 rifle but much smaller. It seems to be native with the gun. So, a couple of questions; 1. Did the original confederate Robinson sharps come like that? 2. Did Pedersoli make an incorrect copy of the Robinson with the leaf sight and no sling swivel in the butt? Thanks

An original Richmond/Robinson Sharps carbine resides in the museum collection at Manassas National Battlefield Park. It is not currently on exhibit but I can tell you it has the sling swivel on the buttstock. The rear sight is missing but there is a plain dovetail on the barrel for a simple notch sight. A leaf sight would likely require a screw for the sight base and there is no screw hole on this carbine.

I have not seen a leaf sight on any Sharps carbine, Union or Confederate. Can't explain why Pedersoli would do that. Could it be an after-market alteration? Chances are the carbine would not pass SAC inspection in that configuration.

The rear sight is nothing but a big flat / stud type with a V cut like the original Mississippi's had. No adjustment at all, no leafs. Look at: http://www.antiquearmsinc.com/confederate-sharps-carbine.htm
