I have an Armi Sport 1861. Considered selling it, never got my desired asking price; so I might go the route of turning it into a muzzleloading carbine. Issue with it is, the barrel is a bit oversized and pitted.

The question is: what carbines would an 1861 lend itself to conversion for?

Richmond Carbine - 1861 Springfield Version, these are basically cut down 1861 Muskets that were damaged when captured.

You would have all the parts necessary to build this carbine, except the brass nose cap and the buttstock sling swivel. All of these parts are available through multiple sutlers, and are rather inexpensive.

As for the oversized bore, you could always send the barrel out to be cut down to 25.5" which is the maximum length for this carbine and then have it relined.

If you need the Small Arms Sheet for this carbine build feel free to email me at josephplakis1 @ Gmail.com

If you ave any other questions let me know.

Also it has a different style front sight. It is the pinched type.
