Is there anyone in the organization that knows how I could trace an original Spencer Carbine (1st 1000 issued) S/N? or at least provide some idea of which unit it was issued to during the Civil War -- or later. It was converted to .50 cal in the 1870's so there might be a record of it being repaired. I am just interested in the gun's history.
