Repro smoothbore pistol

I'm thinking of purchasing the approved smoothbore pistol that Dixie Gunworks sells. They state it takes a .520 ball and a .10 patch. Since we don't patch do I consider a .530 mold and do I rough the balls like shooting long guns? Also they state a suggested load of 35 grs. of 2F powder.
