Alter sights?

What are the rules for altering the sights on a revolver?
I have a 51 navy that I filed the sides on the front sight flat leaving a cone shape profile from the side.
Looking at it from the back it looks like a post.
I also filed the rear sight on the hammer down and squared the notch.
Now it hits dead center at 25 yards.
My question is --is this legal in n-ssa competition?
