Ok, ok... Before I walk face first into "that" L-shaped-ambush - yes I know it's a bayonet.

That said, I'm hoping someone can help me know to what arm(s) it is made for, as well as any other associated information.

What I do know:

Length = 22 inches
Markings = "V" on the top of its blade

Being an original, I attempted to marry it up to originals that I have ready access to - bottom line, it didn't fit the following:

"1825 Springfield"(??) [flintlock],
M-1842,
H&P,
Mississippi,
M-1855,
M-1842(??) [.69 rifle],
1866 Snyder,
45-70,
50-70.

ANY info/insight provided is greatly appreciated! I'll also have a similar thread regarding another "mystery" bayonet posted soon.

I hope the below/attached photos make it onto this thread!

The bayonet is for an Austrian Lorenz.

Rob,
To put a finer point on it, I know it is NOT for the Lorenz Jaegerstutzen. That bayonet looks like an overgrown kitchen knife.

I'd say your bayonet goes to the firearms sometimes called "The Austrian Enfields". In the SAC, it is identified as Austrian Lorenz Model 1854, Type 1 or Type 2.
