Hello:

These images apprear when searching Google for images of Maynard cartridges.

Can anyone share information, please? Thanks.

First shows short height brass base with wrapped paper tube main body, much like modern shotshell, but with bullet.
Second shows flat rim/base riveted with pierced flashole on to balloon main body.

Third shows face of base with riveted center vent.

Many thanks,
Kevin Tinny

Those 3 are all super scarce. The most used type is the two piece, soldiered on base.

Thanks, Bruce:

There seems to be very limited printed historical info on CW era Maynards. I have Layman and the Murphy-Madus books and the catalogue reprints from Cornell, but those three photo's came from somewhere else that Google does not include. Trying to work back to references that will add information.

Kevin

These are the three variants of Maynard cartridges I have in my collection. I found the brass and paper cartridge 25 years ago at a collector's show and I haven't seen one since...glad I bought and didn't think about buying it.

Wow and thanks, Mike:

Nice clear photo. Any idea how far up the brass runs under the paper, please?

Kevin, it goes up from the base about 3/16".
