Just used Birchwood Casey super blue to reblue a barrel. This double strength bluing leaves a rich blue black color almost indistinguishable from the original factory finish. I polished first with 1500 grit sandpaper before bluing and buffed the bluing with superfine steel wool.

Did you have to heat the barrel and quench it in oil or did you just use a cold process?

This is a cold application. I applied and buffed out twice to get a uniform dark even color with no streaking, didn't think it would get any better with another application. I will use up my original Birchwood Casey bluing for my tools and scroll saw table and keep the Super Blue for my guns.

I bought the Super Blue from the local Wal-Mart.
