I have an original 1854 Lorenz that had in the past been bored out smooth to a shotgun. I was thinking of having it lined to shoot in competition. I would like to have it rifled in .54, I have no experience with .54. Was wondering if someone had done this project before, and had suggestions regarding rate of twist, bore diameter, number of lands (I know the originals were 4 lands, not sure this is an option?), and bullet combo (hodgedon vs. wilkinson). Any tips appreciated.

Talk to Bobby Hoyt he has a vast experience with this. He will make recommendations

I have a Lorenz I had relined, 7 lands & grooves 1 - 56 twist. Its the same as my Miss. They both shoot great. The original 4 lands and grooves shoots very well also.

I did one in 4 lands and grooves, gain twist to finish at 48. Shot a compression bullet with 42 grains 2f Swiss, Jackies' lube. Hoyt did the barrel work I did the rest.
