It seemed that my main spring was weak. It would snap, but barely make a cap go off. That is why I thought it was my spring. I bought a main spring, and put it in- the hammer now jams. Now wondering if the replacement main spring was too long. At a pretty price, I do not want to grind it off before I rule out everything else. Anybody have any ideas? Or have a similar problem?

I had a main spring that was too long and had to shorten it to get it to work properly. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if your spring was intentionally made bigger to fit anything out there.

As for the caps not going off, if your old main spring was weak, then that was probably the cause, but there are other reasons related to caps and nipples that cause ignition problems. I have a FWB Rogers that likes the German caps but won't go off with others. I suspect it was built to use those caps since the gun was made in Germany. Never had a problem as long as I use the right caps.
