A friend reached out to me to ask if I would help them get rid of some saddles they discovered in the home of someone who recently passed. They assume they are from the Civil War based on the rest of their collection but aren't completely sure what they have.

They would like whatever information they can get about them but I also told them I would help them find a potential buyer if anyone would be interested. There are 8-10 individual saddles from what they tell me.

The saddles appear to be the Model 1904 McClellan. They are most likely of WW1 vintage. If you look on the back side of the Cantle, which is the rear raised part of the seat, on the right hand side you may find a date of manufacture.

The two that are the same look like model 1904 . The other reminds me of a pack saddle .
