I have run into a great deal on a .44-40 Henry. I am not set up at the present to cast any bullets although I do have a press for reloading. Is there a source for cast, sized and lubed bullets? It seems from the archives that .429 230gr. is well liked. Thanks.

Thanks. You can get bullets from a wide variety of sources, Midwayusa.com, Midsouth.com, dillon precision, Oregon Trail, Buffalo Arms, and Lasercast. I find that a 200 gr .430 or 240 gr .430 works best.

I've found that the lube on commercial cast bullets doesn't work well at controlling black powder fouling. You'll want to remove the lube and replace it with SPG (ugh) or one of the hundreds of home made concoctions.

Try Whyte leather works. He sells the 200 gr. Mav Dutchman 44-40 sized and lubed with SPG in vacuum sealed packages. I can't make them for the price he sells them.
