Hallo!

May I ask a favor of anyone with an original M1861 Springfield to measure the:

1. wrist top to bottom, and side to side.
2. comb length

I would appreciate it.

I have the SAC type measurements but they do not deal with that area. In ye Olde Daze in building, I just took measurements off of my originals (and never recorded them :( ), but sold them off to pay for my daughter's college education.

Thanks!

Curt

Curt, the wrist measures 1.765" height just in front of the comb and 1.780" just in back of the trigger guard. This is over the trigger plate. The width of the wrist at the comb is 1.460" and 1.530" about 3/4" behind the raised area around the lock. The comb is 8 3/4" from the top rear of the buttplate to where it starts to curve downward toward the wrist. These measurements are from an 1861 dated Springfield mfg. musket. I hope these are what you needed.
