I'm looking at a Euroarms 1841 in .58, and if I bought it I would want it relined to .54 with a proper 7-groove barrel. Bobby Hoyt has temporarily suspended operations in order to relocate his shop. Is there anyone else who could do this job up to Mr. Hoyt's standards?

Lodgewood has a couple of nice restored originals ... one I know is already .54 cal ... both are in the $1200-$1400 range.

Dixie Gun Works has a brand new reproduction in .54 cal for $1200.

Just some alternatives for you :D

Saw the Dixie. Glad someone asked Pedersoli to get it right. Just wish they were a smidge less spendy.
I was at the Whitacre Machine site and got the impression he specializes in .58 and .69.
Oh well, I just bought one of the Pedersoli 1859 Sharps carbines that Cabelas has on overstock sale, so my mad money is spent for now.

Dan Whitacre was getting his .54 caliber multi-groove barrels from Bobby Hoyt.

Larry Romano does an excellent job with relines. I believe he does all calibers in any L&G format with any twist. Larry can be reached at 315-695-2066.

hwaugh: Filing that nugget away in the event I stumble on an 1841 in .58 for a great price.

According to Dan Whitacres's website, he charges $295.00 to re-line .58 and .69 cal. barrels.

Dan says he can't reline guns with a screw-in breech, though. I don't know if the Eurorarms 1841 has one or not.

Huh. I thought Bobby had finished the move.

Do note that he is no longer making his own liners (at least he wasn't for my 44/40) so his prices may reflect this. His quality is of course excellent.
