I acquired a very nice example a while back and am just now getting around to playing with it. The 3 band barrel is 3 groove 1-48 twist (I measured the twist rate to be sure) and measures 0.579" with my pin gauges. Can anyone give me any firsthand information on a good minie choice for these barrels? I have a 575213PH mold that throws at 0.581 for my PH first gen. two band. Not sure this is such a good choice for the Armisport.

Well, I have been told that fast twist rates like 1:48 found in the P1858 like long, heavy bullets. I just recently was able to take my Pedersoli P58 with 1:48 twist to the range with a Rapine OS minie that dropped big enough for this gun to be sized at .578, and it did pretty well. I originally tried the 575213PH bullet but mine dropped too small to size to .578. I had a custom core pin made for my Rapine OS to give it a shallow core like the 575213PH.

I did not have any success with the RCBS Hodgdon in my P58 with 1:48 twist. I think it may be too light/short, though I have been told that is not true.

Now my P58 has 5 grooves as opposed to your 3, but I would think you should do OK with the 575213PH.

What load do you use with the Parker-Hale bullet in your two bander? I have one of those moulds SOMEWHERE in my stuff.

I'm using Lee 3.1 cc dipper (45.6 grains) Olde Eynesford 3FG as my load. Works great for me.
