I just "won" a used Mississippi Rifle on Auction Arms at a bargain price.

Does anyone know of a vendor who makes repro Model 1841 plates or remarks Italian reproduction plates?

Niether Lodgewood or S&S have repros although there are plenty of other plates availible (61s, 55s, Richmonds ect)

Thanks

About 15 years ago I asked Brian Haack to make a Harpers Ferry lockplate that would use the Italian internal parts. It worked fine but did not fit the lock mortise well (plate was made to original dimensions), required a little filling in places. The phone number I have for Brian is no longer good.

Further back say 20 or so years, I had a Euroarms Mississippi plate remarked as a Palmetto. The work was done by a gentleman in either North or South Carolina, and unfortunately I can't remember his name. He could reproduce just about any maker. (maybe someone knows who I'm referring to)

Not much help, but perhaps someone else will have current contact info for either of these gentlemen.

I think the guy you are thinking of is Jim Maxson in Fayetteville. NC, His shop Is/was called Lock,Stock and Barrel. The man was an artist when it came to photo etching markings on reproduction plates/parts. He put all of the Harpers Ferry barrel markings on a Weisz barrel for me in the early 90's. He was getting on in years when he did work for me, so you might Google him to see if he is still around.

Scroll down to North Carolina and there is a Jim Maxson listed with a phone number. No telling how old the info may be.
