is this the "chicken bullet" that I have heard of? I have always just called it a "trashcan" I have used it in every .58 cal rifle that I have owned and it has always shot well out to 100 yds.
My old mould finally quit after 25 years and I found this one in the "used" bin at a little gun shop by me. Now, it is the exact mould I was looking for, but the size is .582. I sized it down to .579 and then .577 and it appears alright, but I am really looking for a bullet mould size that is smaller if possible. Does anybody know who manufactured this mould? I really am looking for a .579 if possible.

Yes.......that is the most common version of it. You can do as the rest of us did back in the day......jus take a lyman mold and drill out the top in your drill press. I've drilled many back in the day and they all shot great. Guess the reason it came about was a prospective new Stake Buster bullet. Jury is still out on that all these years later.

I don't know about stakes, but I have taken 7 deer with that bullet. I also shot a 49 3x at a regional in individuals with that bullet. Could not miss at 50 yds with it either! Just want to find one or two spare moulds.

Used to have one of those in .69 caliber, and about 800 grains in weight. It took BIG CHUNKS out of the stake event. It also did a number on your shoulder!
