Does anyone have a conical bullet mould for a Burnside Carbine they would be willing to sell? Anyone know where I can find one? Rapine used to make them, but I am not aware of any other makers at this point. A friend recently purchased a Burnside carbine, and now is looking for the correct mould so he can take it to the range.

If you have one to sell, or know where I could track one down I would really appreciate the help.

Thanks!

I would almost be willing to bet that if you could procure a sample bullet Moose Moulds could make a mould for you!

Thanks John. My understanding is Moose is coming out with that mould next year.

In, I suggested that too. My friend I'd a Living Historian, and wanted everything to be authentic.

He may just have to wait until Moose releases the new mould.

Thanks!

Are you looking for a hollow base or solid base?

Try Accurate Molds numbers 56-340b, 345b, 350b, 450b and 450HB. The HB is a hollow base and you will have to make your own base pin. The others are all solid base. Mine likes the hollow base with a dished base, like the original. Weighs in at about 370 gr. http://www.accuratemolds.com/catalog.php?page=14

Thanks for the responses.

Efritz, I think he is looking for the solid based bullet, but I need to clarify that.

Carolina Reb, I really appreciate the link! I will pass that on to my friend and let him decide what he wants to try out. I will mention that yours likes the hallow based bullet.

Thanks guys!

There were two style of bullets issued for the Burnside during the Civil War. One solid base and dished base.

I have an original one that I may part with. Not an easy find anywhere. It came from a local auction and is a little rough but will still cast a bullet.

Hi Third Winchester,

I will ask my friend if he is interested. Just so I have all the information I know he will ask....how much would you be looking to get for it? Could you proved a few pictures also?

Thanks!
