Starter Musket for Young Ault

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this question, but seemd so to me.

What musket would you recommend for a young adult to start skirmishing with? This may be for my daughter. The Springfield Artillery models came to mind, because of their lighter weights, but what about stock length? Are there any other muskets that may be a good starter? Weight and shorter stock length are important.

Paul, I am sure John and others have said this, but you can't go wrong with an 1851 Cadet, as it would be a lightweight rifle that with a change of barrels would also be usable in the smoothbore matches. in the long run it solves all of your problems ;)

If expense is a concern, in addition to weight, you may want to look at the repo Zoli Zouave...its a very light gun, and most of them can be set up to be fairly accurate. They are all over the place on Gunbroker for 2-300$.
