I agree... it is a good price if the rifiling chokes in the right direction. There were early ones that were backwards.

Were not the early Navy Arms Smith Carbines also the artillery model? I have one of the early artillery model carbines (a "BA" code, so it was made in 1991) that didn't have that problem. A later one, a "BH" (1996) cavalry model shot like a sewer pipe until Hoyt relined it.

Yep, I remember Navy Arms selling some for cheap because of the barrel problem, Bobby Hoyt fixed the issue on some of them, I think. If relining is necesary, it would add over $100. Of course, there might not be any problem with the Smith in Question what so ever! I know many shooters having great success with them.

Yeah, so let's all quit messing up Gil's thread, and let him sell the darn thing!

Sorry Gil.

This is easy enough to settle. Muley, punch a round through the barrel and give the result which we assume you will stand by. There has been numbers of skirmishers that have been stung on repro Smith "deals".

I purchased a used Smith from a reenactor. The gun was in great shape as he hardly used it. But when I slugged the barrel starting at the breach the bullet went about half way down and then fell out the muzzzle end. Sent it to Hoyt and solved the problem. Now I would have a great shooter if I could do my part
