Anybody shooting the Moose Wilkinson bullet? Any thoughts about the bullet? I acquired an 1817 common rifle with the original rifling. It is seven lands and grooves designed for round ball. I am looking in vain for a hollow-base minie with a thin skirt with no success. I figured I might take the other route and try a Wilknson bullet.
If you are in the market for a Rapine .69 Wadcutter mould, I am open to trade.

Any thoughts are appreciated!

Bryan,

I am shooting a Moose .542 Wilkinson in my Euroarms Mississippi. The bullet shoots really well with either 38 or 40 grains of GOEX 3F. I bought one of Moose's two-cavity moulds and I can cast a lot in a very short amount of time with maybe 1 or 2 throwbacks. I shoot them unsized with MCM lube.

Thank you for the info! I am curious as to how the bullet would reract to being in a round-ball barrel, being seven lands and grooves. I have a zouave with a seven land and groove Getz barrel that is for round ball, and it shoots a RCBS Hodgen 58 cal bullet like a champion. Theat bullet also has a biger core plug for a thinner skirt though. I have never worked with a Wilkinson bullet and am curious as to how it will work with a round ball barrel.

What is the actually diameter of the bore and the bullet you need?

Great question! I have to wait until the rifles are in my hands to measure the bores...
