Where can I purchase some quality cast minie balls for skirmishing? In particular the RCBS Hodgdon minie for my JRA rifled musket. And a tradional heavier minie for my Pedersoli 3 band.

Look up Lodgewood on the internet then check into the bullets section. They can hook you up with Pat.

Pat Kaboskey is the CWbullet man. Look him up in our "links" under Lodgewood Mfg, look for "bullets".

I've bought some from CWbulletman and they were very poor quality. I'm looking for someone else.

Paul Weber is another good source.

Might try rweber@cvs.com. Saw it here a while back regarding platinum lined nipples. Regards. Kevin

I am looking for 200 of the rcbs hodgdon style that I can size to .576. And 200 of a full size old style Minie that I can size to .578.(like a P-H or Lyman new style).

I had to have my thumbs reconstructed some years ago, one after the other, and could shoot kind of OK, but could not make bullets for about a year. Pat K made several thousand for me and they were all good, and I am particular about my bullets. So, I am surprised someone had quality problems with Pat K's bullets. John Maderious, WBR

I've also purchased miniés from Pat that were good shootin' bullets.
If you're looking for other sources, search Gunbroker for minié bullets. I've purchased excellent quality ones from a couple of different vendors on that site, several styles, decent costs. Still much cheaper to cast your own once you decide on a design that shoots well.

Smosin,
Thank you so much for your tip about gun broker. Several years back I was wringing out a Pedersoli .54 double rifle and I had purchased several boxes of some really nice .54 Minie balls. I still have one box on the shelf, but for the life of me I couldn't remember where I'd bought them. I took your suggestion and looked on GB, and there they were in the nice white box packaging same as the ones I'd bought years ago. And in many different calibers and weights!

I have about 200 pounds of Hodgdons made up at .579, I have a casting machine and made a lot while I was unemployed.

I have sized them down to .577 but no smaller, it would probably take two passes through two different sizes to get to the size you want...

I shoot the rcbs hodgdon style at .579 so I guess that will not work...
