So I now have a Original Ballard that I am planning to shoot the single shot competition.
But a former skirmisher gave me some 44-40 rounds that he shot out his Repro-Henry and they don't.
Is this common?
Who makes a STEEL mold for a 44-40 bullet?
I have tried those LEE Aluminum ones and "never again"...

I just bought a redding saEco mould, 200 gr. excellent. Will find number tomorrow.
the Henry rounds may be too hot for the cast receiver

My Henry load is Lyman 427098 sized to .430 over 30 grains of Goex 3fg powder, a CCI Large Pistol primer and a paper wad. I use a homemade recipe for lube commonly called "N" lube.
It's a gold medal winning combination.

Saeco by redding mould is 420

Lot of the Ballard gurus are recommending a lighter load due to those cast frames. 16 gr of FFFg with NO filler seems to work.
