1816 Middle Band Rivet

I am going to put a cast middle band on my 1816 musket. Does anyone know how to rivet the sling loop to the band, using an original style rivet?

A 16penny nail works everytime. Just tap it in and file flush. Rich

Thank you for the reply Rich. I ended up using the soft metal rivet that came with the cast barrel band. I placed it against a flat portion of my vise and tapped it down using a hard flat punch and a hammer. The rivet flattened down pretty good.
