    Minie Choice?

OK. I bought an ArmiSport 3 Band 1855 Type I NIB unfired. I've sized the land diameter at 0.578 with a set of precision pin guages. So, the $64K question is 575 or 577 bullet diameter? Twist rate is published as 1-48. I have a Lyman 575213OS Mold already. My current sizer die is 575. I'm thinking of getting a new sizing die to 576 or 577 if I can find one. I do not know the bullet diameter that the 575213 throws, as I have not cast with this mold. Back in the day, when I owned a PH Enfield (British) and Zoli Zouave with Dan Whitacre barrel, I used a Rapine 575510 and sized to 575. Shot great, but this rifle is a different breed, so your recommendations are requested. I'm going to try 45 gr. 3FG with 575213 sized to 575 to start with, probably tomorrow.

The Lyman 575213 mold I have molds a .580-.581 bullet. I have heard people say that theirs molds .575. You pays your money and you take your chances. I do think that you need to get within .002 of your bore diameter for best results.

Hello , My Lyman 575213 NS give .575 bullets , my RCBS 58-500 give 576 , I resize them to .575 to fit whith my PH mle 58, i.e .001 lower the bore.
My sizers come from S&S firearms .
For best results (if authorized by N-S SA) try flat plug base (as Lyman 575213PH), they are easy to cast and have a solid skirt . In Europe M-base are also very appreciated for their accuracy.

My experience has been that production bullet moulds can vary somewhat from their advertised size. Your best bet is to purchase a mould and then see what size bullet it actually throws. If it is the correct size for your bore, (after sizing) things are fine.

Of course, I would recommend that you glass bed your Enfield and also make sure that your tang screw is TIGHT.

    GOOD LUCK!!!!

These guys do precision grinding of moulds to alter the diameter of the bands.
