A buddy inherited an original Smith Carbine that he hopes to sell. He is not greedy, but hopes to find a good home for this gun and receive a fair price.
Here are some details:
Saddle ring model. Mfg by Mass Arms Co. S/N 20,8XX.
By NRA rules the condition is estimated between “Good” and “Very Good”. IMHO it is in average condition.
The finish appears to be original. No bluing or case colors remain, but the metal is not heavily rusted.
Both stocks are solid with two cartouches barely visible in the butt stock.
The lockup is solid. The bore is shiny with clearly visible rifling. Some minor pitting is visible ahead of the chamber.
An inspector’s mark is visible on the barrel which appears to indicate “CSL” with a “P” below.
Both front and rear sights are intact.
The lock is not working due to a broken stirrup. Both springs and the tumbler appear OK. The hammer screw is a replacement from Lodgewood.
If there is interest in this gun, please let me know. It is located in the metro Detroit area. I can be reached at ipt109@gmail.com and will be happy to supply photos.
