MSC generally has Chinese import sets fairly cheap. They can also be purchased individually. Pick a size and get a few smaller and larger to cover all bases. With a set you'll have 90% of them that you never use. Get the minus size ones. They are .0002" under the nominal size.

Mine are all Vermont Gage Co. Available from Travers tools or direct from mfr. American made, hard black oxide finish. +/-.0005 tolerance pins run about 3 bucks. If you're really OCD you can get the ones w/ tolerances measured in microns for $25 each

Most all of mine are Vermont Gauge pins.
You cannget them at any supply house, granger, even amazon
Few big mail order supply houses also offer them.
Big place in. Ohio , McMaster sells them also.
You can get them in same size, say .575 in a + and - if you want the full set.
I have and carry them to nationals from time to time full sets for 58 cal and 69 cal even some 50 cal along with all the pins to gauge M1 Garands.
Just let me know so i can make sure to carry them.

I got a whole set of the cheap chinese ones on ebay for under a hundred bucks, plus shipping. .501-.599. Granted most of those I won't ever need. But I can't tell you how many other N-ssa members both on my team and in general have gotten to use them. Plus a few outside the N-ssa.
I made that choice for two reasons. 1. Good gauges can run a few bucks each, and if you want the whole range from say .572 to .586, you're close to the full set. 2. Some day I might get a .54. Or want to gauge an inline deer rifle. Or whatever.
I did some micrometer checks on about 1/3 of them. They are all as advertised. Within 2/10,000" of spec. Which for what we are doing, if you get the - set, is perfectly fine.
